Alain Nasreddine is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach and former player, currently serving as an assistant coach for the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL). With a playing career spanning over a decade, Nasreddine made a name for himself as a defensive expert, playing for six different NHL organizations.
Born on July 10, 1975, in Saint-Leonard, Quebec, Nasreddine grew up in a multicultural family, with a Lebanese Muslim father, Akram, and a French-Canadian Catholic mother, Francine. He began his hockey journey in junior ice hockey, playing for the Drummondville Voltigeurs and Chicoutimi Saguenens of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).
Selected by the Florida Panthers in the sixth round (135th overall) of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, Nasreddine's playing career took him to various teams, including the Chicago Blackhawks, Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders, and Pittsburgh Penguins. Although he saw limited NHL action, he made the most of his opportunities, totaling 74 career NHL games.
After hanging up his skates, Nasreddine transitioned to coaching, beginning as an assistant coach for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2010. He later joined the New Jersey Devils as an assistant coach in 2015 and briefly served as the team's interim head coach in 2019.
In 2020, Nasreddine returned to his assistant coach role with the Devils, but his contract was not renewed in 2022. He then joined the Dallas Stars as an assistant coach under head coach Peter DeBoer in 2022.
