Bendijo's foray into television journalism began in 1995, when he joined ABSCBN Regional Network Group's Davao station, hosting a public service program on the station's regional radio station, DXAB. He soon rose to prominence as the anchor of TV Patrol Mindanao, later renamed TV Patrol Davao, alongside co-anchor Girlie Balaba.
In 2000, Bendijo became the first TV reporter in ABSCBN Manila, working on the popular morning show Hoy Gissing, anchored by Ted Failon and Connie Sison.
