He pursued his passion at the 2nd Secondary School of Tartu (now known as Miina Härma Gymnasium) from 1961 to 1972. Subsequently, he enrolled in the State Art Institute of the Estonian SSR (presently Estonian Academy of Arts), where he studied architecture from 1972 to 1977.
After graduating, Alver worked in the architectural office of the S. M. Kirov collective farm from 1977 to 1990. He then co-founded the architectural bureau Alver Trummal OÜ in 1990, partnering with Tiit Trummal. In 2006, Alver established his own architectural office, A. Alver Architects OÜ, which continues to thrive today.
Alver's outstanding contributions to Estonian architecture have earned him numerous accolades. He is a member of the prestigious Union of Estonian Architects and currently serves on the editorial board of Ehituskunst, Estonia's leading architectural review magazine.
