Yarmolenko is a graduate of the Chernihiv Youth Sports School Yunist and joined the Dynamo Kyiv Youth Academy at the age of 13. Although he returned to Chernihiv after a year due to physical requirements, he continued to play for various clubs, including Yunist Chernihiv, Desna Chernihiv, Lokomotyv Kyiv, and Vidradnyi Kyiv.
In 2007, Yarmolenko joined Dynamo Kyiv, where he has since become a key player, helping the team win several titles and achieving individual success.
Yarmolenko has been a full international for Ukraine since 2009 and has played in several major tournaments, including the UEFA European Championship in 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024. He has also captained the Ukraine national team, leading them to several victories and earning himself a reputation as a skilled and dedicated player.
Yarmolenko is known for his humble and down-to-earth personality, often crediting his family and coaches for his success. He has a younger sister and is married with two children.
Throughout his career, Yarmolenko has remained committed to his country and community, often participating in charity events and supporting social causes.
