Randle El was born on August 17, 1979, in Riverdale, Illinois, to Curtis Randle El Sr., a food distributor, and Jacqueline, a daycare provider. He was raised in a Pentecostal Christian household and grew up as a Chicago Bears fan.

Randle El attended Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Illinois, where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. He was a high school teammate of future NFL players Napoleon Harris, Melvin Ely, and Tai Streets.

After graduating from high school in 1997, Randle El was drafted in the 14th round (424th overall) of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Chicago Cubs. However, he chose to pursue a college education and athletic career at Indiana University, where he played football, basketball, and baseball for the Hoosiers.

College Football Career and NFL Draft

Randle El played college football as a quarterback for the Indiana Hoosiers, earning first-team All-American honors in 2001. He led the Hoosiers to a 5-6 record and was instrumental in several victories, showcasing his versatility and athleticism.
