Ari Stidham was born to a Sephardic Jewish father and an Ashkenazi Jewish mother in Westlake Village, California. His maternal grandparents hailed from Russia, while his paternal grandparents were from Morocco and the United States. Raised in an observant Reform Jewish home, Stidham attended the Center for Early Jewish Education in Thousand Oaks, but he does not identify as religiously Jewish, instead, he identifies as culturally Jewish.
Stidham's passion for the performing arts began at a young age, as he started playing music at the age of four. He later performed in theater and musical productions throughout his elementary and high school years. His love for comedy led him to join ComedySportz Los Angeles Improvisational comedy group, where he honed his skills as a performer.
Stidham's acting career took off in 2010, when he played the character Ian in the ABC Family television series Huge. However, his breakthrough role came when he auditioned for the part of Sylvester Dodd in the CBS series Scorpion, despite the role being written for an African American actor in his thirties. He landed the role after a single audition and went on to play the character for four seasons, appearing in 93 episodes.
Besides acting, Stidham is also a talented musician, who releases music under the alias DrTelevision, or DRTV. Additionally, through his production company Stidley Inc., he produces short-form alternative comedy with Zach Green, including a monthly love comedy radio play, Dick Duquesne Tales of a Private Dick.
