Belinda's pageantry career took off in 1972, when she won the title of Miss World, beating 73 other contestants. She was awarded 3000 pounds and became an overnight sensation. The pageant was held in the Royal Albert Hall in London, on December 1.

Her win led to a whirlwind of opportunities, including an invitation from actor and comedian Bob Hope to entertain American troops in Vietnam during Christmas 1972. She continued to make waves in the pageantry world, winning the title of Miss Australia Beach Girl in 1974, where she was awarded a gold Valiant Charger car.

Although Belinda hasn't competed in a pageant since, she has judged various contests, including Miss Tasmania 1999, Miss World 2004, and Best Dressed Tropical Lady 2015.
