Interactive Sculptures: Der Hammer des Thors and Terra Nova

Two of Fasching's most notable works are his “walk-in” sculptures, Der Hammer des Thors (Thors Hammer) and Terra Nova. The former, created in 1990, was brought to life in the entrance hall of the Austrian Museum of Applied Arts (MAK), while the latter, created between 1996 and 1997, was constructed in the Dominican Republic. Terra Nova, inspired by Christopher Columbus's arrival on the island, prompts reflection on the complex, often tumultuous history of the American Continents.
