LaHair's journey to stardom began when he was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 39th round of the 2002 MLB Draft. The talented young player spent the next few years honing his skills, eventually earning a spot in the California-Carolina League All-Star Game in 2005.
His impressive performance didn't go unnoticed, and LaHair was promoted to the Double-A San Antonio Missions and later to the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers in 2006. By November of that year, he had secured a spot on the Mariners' 40-man roster.
LaHair's big break came in July 2008 when he was called up to the Mariners, making his Major League debut as a pinch hitter. Although his first at-bat resulted in a double play, he quickly redeemed himself with a line drive single to right field against the Boston Red Sox.
In 2010, LaHair signed a minor league contract with the Chicago Cubs, earning a promotion to the Triple-A Iowa Cubs. It was here that he truly found his footing, winning the Pacific Coast League Most Valuable Player Award and Joe Bauman Home Run Award in 2011.
LaHair's success in the minor leagues translated to the major leagues, and he was named to the Baseball America 2011 Minor League All-Star team as a designated hitter. He eventually earned a promotion to the Cubs' major league roster in September 2011, marking a triumphant return to the top-tier of professional baseball.
After hanging up his cleats, LaHair transitioned into coaching, taking on the role of manager for the Dayton Dragons, the Cincinnati Reds' High-A affiliate.
