Carrie Alexandra Coon was born on January 24, 1981, in Copley, Ohio, to Paula and John Coon. She grew up in a family of five siblings and graduated from Copley High School in 1999. Coon pursued her higher education at the University of Mount Union, earning a BA in English and Spanish in 2003. She later obtained her MFA in acting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2006.
