Charlie Haas, born Charles Doyle Haas II on March 27, 1972, is an American professional and former amateur wrestler, best known for his time in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and Ring of Honor (ROH). He is a celebrated wrestler, having won numerous championships, including the WWE Tag Team Championship twice with Shelton Benjamin as The Worlds Greatest Tag Team.
Haas was an amateur wrestler in high school and attended Seton Hall University on a wrestling scholarship. Before becoming a professional wrestler, he worked as a stockbroker. Haas's amateur wrestling career laid the foundation for his future success in the professional ring.
Haas began his professional wrestling career in 1996, regularly teaming with his brother, Russ, on the independent circuit. The Haas Brothers won several championships, including the CZW World Tag Team Championship and the JAPW Tag Team Championship. After Russ's tragic death in 2001 due to a heart attack, Haas shifted his focus to singles competition, winning the HWA Heavyweight Championship once.
In 2002, Haas formed a team with Shelton Benjamin, debuting on SmackDown and winning the WWE Tag Team Championship twice. They dubbed themselves The Worlds Greatest Tag Team before splitting in 2004. Haas then teamed with Rico, winning the WWE Tag Team Championship once more, and gained Miss Jackie as a valet. After being released from WWE in 2005, Haas had a short stint in Jersey All Pro Wrestling (JAPW) and other independent promotions before being resigned to WWE in April 2006.
After being released from WWE in 2009, Haas joined Ring of Honor (ROH) from 2010 to 2013. During this period, he had a successful singles career, competing against top talent in the promotion.
Haas married Miss Jackie, his valet during his WWE days. He has continued to stay involved in the wrestling world, making appearances and competing in independent promotions.
Charlie Haas's contributions to professional wrestling are undeniable. His impressive in-ring achievements, charismatic persona, and memorable tag team with Shelton Benjamin have left a lasting impact on the sport.
