Chiyotairy Hidemasa, born Hidemasa Meigetsuin on November 14, 1988, is a former Japanese professional sumo wrestler known for his remarkable career, which saw him rise to the rank of komusubi and earn a special prize for Technique.
Hailing from Arakawa, Tokyo, Japan, Hidemasa attended junior high school and high school in Adachi, Tokyo. He then went on to attend the martial arts department of Nippon Sport Science University, where he became a university yokozuna after winning the 2010 national college individual sumo championship.
However, his success at university did not translate to a diligent training regimen. Hidemasa admitted to getting "bigheaded" after his triumph and avoided traditional sumo training exercises, opting instead for muscular training.
Hidemasa joined former yokozuna Chiyonofuji's stable, Kokonoe stable, on January 24, 2011. Despite a delayed tournament debut due to the Sumo matchfixing scandal, he went on to make his professional debut in May 2011 as a makushita tsukedashi recruit.
He reached the top division in May 2012 and earned his first gold star or kinboshi by defeating yokozuna Harumafuji in the March 2013 tournament. His highest rank was komusubi, and he was awarded a special prize for Technique.
