A former NHL player who won the Stanley Cup with the Montreal Canadiens in 1977 and was known for his rugged defensive play.
Chris Armstrong, a former Canadian professional ice hockey defenseman, is renowned for his perseverance and determination in the National Hockey League (NHL). With a career spanning over a decade, Armstrong's unwavering dedication to the sport earned him a reputable position in the hockey world.
Born on June 26, 1975, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Armstrong grew up in Whitewood, Saskatchewan. His passion for hockey was evident from a young age, and he worked tirelessly to hone his skills. The Florida Panthers drafted Armstrong in the third round (57th overall) of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, marking the beginning of his professional journey.
Armstrong's path to the NHL was not without its challenges. After being claimed by the Nashville Predators in the 1998 NHL Expansion Draft, he signed with the San Jose Sharks as a free agent in 1999. However, it wasn't until the 2000-01 season that he made his NHL debut with the Minnesota Wild, albeit for only three games. Undeterred, Armstrong continued to work on his game, and his persistence paid off when he signed with the New York Islanders as a free agent in 2001.
Armstrong's big break came when he signed with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in 2003. He went on to play four games for the Ducks in the 2003-04 season, recording one assist and one point. Although his NHL career was marked by brief stints with various teams, Armstrong's determination and resilience earned him a spot in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) with ERC Ingolstadt, where he played for five seasons.
