Clinton David Boon, born on June 28, 1959, in Oldham, Lancashire, is an English musician, DJ, and radio presenter who initially gained recognition as the keyboard player and occasional vocalist of the renowned band Inspiral Carpets.
Boon's musical journey began in the late 1980s when he joined Inspiral Carpets in 1986, following a stint with the band The Mill. During his tenure with Inspiral Carpets, the band released several successful albums, solidifying their position in the British music scene.
After Inspiral Carpets disbanded in 1995, Boon went on to form The Clint Boon Experience, releasing two albums: The Compact Guide to Pop Music and Space Travel in 1999 and Life in Transition in 2000. The band's single "Do What You Do (Earworm Song)" featuring Fran Healy, the lead singer of Travis, further showcased Boon's versatility as a musician.
In addition to his music endeavors, Boon has had a successful career as a radio presenter. He began working with Liverpool's Crash FM in 1995, presenting shows and standing in for DJ Terry Christian on Century FM in Manchester. In 2005, he became the head of music at Oldham-based radio station The Revolution, hosting the weekday show from 10 am to 2 pm.
Boon later joined Xfm Manchester in 2006, presenting the drivetime show, and in 2007, he received two Sony Award nominations for his XFM show in the Music Broadcaster and Specialist Music Programme categories. With Xfm Manchester's transition into Radio X in 2015, Boon began hosting a Sunday evening show from 7 pm to 11 pm, which was later shortened to 7 pm to 10 pm.
