In 1991, Battle, along with school friends Darragh Butler, Colin Fennelly, and Billy Dalton, formed a band called Rollercoaster, which later became Kerbdog. The band's self-titled album, produced by legendary grunge icon Jack Endino, was released in 1994.

Kerbdog's second album, On The Turn, was recorded in 1996 but faced delays due to issues with their record company. The band was eventually dropped and disbanded in 1998.

Battle and Butler went on to form Wilt, a band with a greater pop influence than Kerbdog. They released two albums, Bastinado and My Medicine, on Infectious Records. Wilt disbanded in 2003 following limited success.

In 2005, Kerbdog reformed for a series of one-off shows, and the band remains active on a part-time basis, with no plans to write or record new material.

Broadcasting Career

Battle began his broadcasting career at Phantom FM before moving to RTÉ in 2003, along with colleagues Jenny Huston and Dan Hegarty. His late-night show, The Battle Axe, features new and alternative music from acts around the world.
