A talented musician who rose to fame as a teenager with his soulful voice and heartfelt ballads, particularly with the hit song "What If".
Daniel MacMaster, a Canadian singer, is best known for being the lead vocalist of the Canadian-British hard rock band Bonham. With his powerful voice, he contributed to the band's two albums, "The Disregard of Timekeeping" (1989) and "Mad Hatter" (1992), which peaked at Number 38 on the Billboard charts.
MacMaster's career with Bonham was marked by tours and performances alongside notable bands like Cinderella and Skid Row. The band's debut album, "The Disregard of Timekeeping," received critical acclaim, and its single "Guilty" gained significant airplay on MTV.
In 2001, MacMaster began working on a solo project, performing small club dates in the Barrie area with guitarist Stefano Fantin. However, due to musical differences, the collaboration was short-lived. In 2005, he released a solo album, "Rock Bonham...And the Long Road Back," which was reissued by Suncity Records in 2006.
Later, MacMaster started a new project with Connecticut-based singer-songwriter Jimmy D of the band Emerald Monkey, dubbed MonkeyMacMaster. The group aimed to release music and play shows, but the project was unfortunately cut short due to MacMaster's untimely death.
Daniel MacMaster's life was tragically cut short when he died from a Group A streptococcal infection, which he initially thought was a cold, on March 16, 2008. He developed sepsis and passed away at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, leaving behind his wife and two children, Kaleb and Aryanna.
Though his life was short-lived, Daniel MacMaster's contributions to the hard rock scene continue to inspire and influence new generations of musicians. His powerful voice and energetic performances remain etched in the memories of fans, and his legacy continues to rock on.
