Dax's musical journey began when she joined the band Amii Toytal and the Croixroads, later known as Lemon Kittens, in 1979. She was the keyboardist, flautist, and saxophonist, and her artistic talents extended to creating the cover artwork for the band's releases.
During her time with Lemon Kittens, Dax collaborated with Robert Fripp, the founder of King Crimson, on his 1981 album, The League of Gentlemen. She provided vocals for the song "Minor Man," although it was not included in the final album release. However, her artwork was retained for the cover.
