Danny Pudi was born on March 10, 1979, in Chicago, Illinois, to Teresa (née Komendant) and Abraham L. Pudi. Pudi grew up speaking Polish with his mother and grandmother on the South Side of Chicago, where he attended Notre Dame College Prep in Niles, a northern suburb.
After graduating from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with a degree in communication and theatre in 2001, Pudi studied dance in Chicago and attended The Second City, a renowned improv comedy institution. He was the first winner of the Chris Farley Scholarship, which led to him performing at an improv comedy event featuring Jim Breuer and Dave Chappelle, further solidifying his interest in improv.
In the early 2000s, Pudi worked as a recruiter for an executive search firm before moving to Los Angeles in 2005 to pursue television and film roles.
