Dooley went on to play wide receiver at the University of Virginia, earning a scholarship in his second season and helping the Cavaliers secure three bowl appearances, including an ACC championship in 1989. He graduated in 1990 with a degree in government and foreign affairs and later earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1994.
Today, Dooley serves as a senior offensive analyst for the Alabama Crimson Tide, working alongside Nick Saban, one of the most successful coaches in college football history.
