Twilley and Seymour's initial collaboration began under the name Oister, with the duo writing songs and recording together. They later recruited guitarist Bill Pitcock IV, who played lead guitar on most of their tracks. In 1974, they decided to leave Tulsa and seek fame in Memphis, Tennessee, where they stumbled upon Sun Studio, the legendary recording studio founded by Sam Phillips. It was here that they met Jerry Phillips, who introduced them to rockabilly and helped shape their sound.
After signing with Shelter Records in 1974, Twilley and Seymour's big break came with the release of "I'm on Fire," which peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This success led to a string of albums, including "Sincerely" (1976), "Twilley" (1979), and "Scuba Divers" (1982). The duo's music was praised for its catchy melodies, introspective lyrics, and innovative production.
In the late 1970s, Twilley went solo, releasing his debut album "Twilley" in 1979. The album spawned the hit single "Girls," which reached number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
