On October 27, 1916, she joined the civilians and reserve soldiers fighting to repel a Bavarian company's attack on the Jiu River bridge in Trgu-Jiu. Her bravery during this battle caught the attention of the Royal Family, who invited her to Bucharest on November 6, 1916.
