Eduardo Vargas is a Chilean professional footballer renowned for his exceptional goal-scoring skills and versatility on the pitch. Vargas was born on November 20, 1989, in Santiago, Chile, and grew up in Renca. He began his footballing journey playing for Internacional de Rencas youth setup and later had trials at Universidad Catlica and Palestino before joining Deportes Puerto Montt's youth categories.
In 2005, Vargas participated in Adidas Selection Team, a reality show that gave him the opportunity to impress scouts and coaches. Although he didn't win the competition, he caught the attention of Puerto Rico Islanders, and in 2006, he was invited to a trial with the club.
Vargas' big break came when he was signed by Cobreloa in 2006. Initially assigned to the B-team in the Tercera División, he impressed the coaches with his skills and was promoted to the first team. He made his professional debut on July 23, 2006, at just 16 years old, coming on as a substitute in a match against Puerto Montt.
In 2011, Vargas moved to Universidad de Chile, where he won three titles, including the 2011 Copa Sudamericana, and was named player of the tournament.
