During his tenure with the Hollies, Haydock recorded bass on some of their most iconic hits, including "Just One Look," "Look Through Any Window," and "I'm Alive," among many others. His short but significant time with the band laid the foundation for their future success.
In July 1966, Haydock's stint with the Hollies came to an abrupt end due to disputes related to the conduct of the band's managers. He was replaced by Bernie Calvert, who went on to play bass on the hit song "Bus Stop," although Haydock had contributed to the album of the same name.
In a peculiar twist, Haydock appeared with the Hollies on Top of the Pops in June 1966, performing "Bus Stop" alongside his soon-to-be successor, Calvert.
In 1997, Haydock was sued by the Hollies for promoting his new band as "Eric Haydock's Hollies." The lawsuit resulted in Haydock being banned from using the name, a testament to the complexities of band dynamics and intellectual property rights.
On March 15, 2010, Haydock was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, alongside his former Hollies bandmates, including Allan Clarke, Graham Nash, Tony Hicks, Bobby Elliott, and Terry Sylvester.
Haydock married Pamela Dore in 1965, but the couple divorced, leaving behind three children. He passed away on January 5, 2019, at the age of 75, leaving behind a rich musical legacy.
