Felix Silla, an Italian-born actor, stuntman, and voice artist, is best known for his iconic roles in popular television and film, including his portrayal of Cousin Itt in the classic TV series The Addams Family and as one of the hang glider Ewoks in Return of the Jedi.

Early Life and Circus Career

Born on January 11, 1937, in the small village of Roccacasale, Abruzzo, Italy, Silla began his career as a circus performer, training in various skills such as bareback horse riding, trapeze artistry, and tumbling. He migrant to the United States at the age of 18 and joined the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, touring with the troupe for several years.

Transition to Hollywood

Silla's multiple talents and experience in the circus led him to Hollywood, where he worked as a stuntman and actor. He made his film debut in A Ticklish Affair, a 1963 comedy film. His early roles included appearances in The Towering Inferno, The Hindenburg, and Battlestar Galactica, often doubling for children due to his short stature of 1.19 m (3 ft 11 in).

Iconic Roles and Performances

• The Addams Family: Silla's most iconic role, Cousin Itt, was a breakout character in the classic TV series. Although Cousin Itt appeared in only one of Charles Addams' original comics, Silla's portrayal of the character, complete with a fuzzy, it-like costume and mannerisms, made it a household name.
• Return of the Jedi: Silla's stint as one of the hang glider Ewoks in the 1983 Star Wars film added to his repertoire of beloved characters.
• The Black Bird: Silla cited his role as Litvak, a miniature Adolf Hitler, as one of his favorites. The 1975 comedy film showcased his versatility as a performer.

Voice Artistry and Music

In addition to his on-screen performances, Silla also lent his voice to various projects, including the video game The Sims 2, where he voiced the character Mortimer Goth. Between film and TV appearances, Silla performed with his own musical combo, The Original Harmonica Band, in Las Vegas and Reno nightclubs.
