Gates went on to release three studio albums, What My Heart Wants to Say, Go Your Own Way, and The Gareth Gates Album, and had several top 10 hits in the UK.
In 2009, Gates moved into musical theatre, playing the title role in the West End production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Adelphi Theatre. He then completed an 18-month stint as Marius in the touring and West End productions of Les Misérables.
