Tripathee completed her high school education in Kharelthok in 1988 and moved to Kathmandu for further education.
She joined Padma Kanya Multiple Campus in Kathmandu and graduated in 1993. Tripathee married Yadavraj Tripathee in 1989 while studying in Padmakanya college. She continued her studies, earning a Master's degree in Nepali literature in 1998 with a gold medal, and later, a PhD in Nepali literature from Tribhuvan University in 2017.
