Born on August 25, 1936, Kedia faced an early challenge when his father passed away at the tender age of eight. Under the guidance of his mother, Ginya Devi Kedia Shyama, he took on the responsibility of managing the family business, interrupting his education in the process.
Kedia's entrepreneurial spirit led him to diversify the family business, which initially started with selling yarn, into various sectors such as textiles, petroleum, tyres, automobile spare parts, lubricants, and real estate. He also ventured into the business of textbooks.

He followed in the footsteps of his father, Late Banarasilal, a social reformer and man of culture. A charter member of the Lions Club of Cuttack, Kedia held various positions, including President, Bulletin Editor, and Leo Adviser. He also served as a Zone Chairman, Deputy District Governor, and Cabinet Secretary of the district.
His dedication to the cause earned him the prestigious Samaj Gaurav award and the Theater Movement Award by the Global Peace Organization.
