Born on July 13, 1985, in Papantla, Veracruz, Mexico, Ochoa began his professional journey with Club América in 2004. During his seven-year stint with the team, he won the league title in 2005 and established himself as the club's first-choice goalkeeper, making over 200 appearances.
In 2011, Ochoa made his European debut with Ajaccio in France, where he spent three seasons before joining Málaga in 2014. Although he struggled to secure a starting spot with Málaga, he went on to play for Granada on a season-long loan in 2016 and later joined Standard Liège in Belgium, winning the 2017-2018 Belgian Cup.
In 2019, Ochoa returned to his boyhood club, Club América, before making a move to Italian club Salernitana in 2022.
Ochoa made his international debut for Mexico in 2005, at the age of 20, in a friendly match against Hungary. Since then, he has participated in five FIFA World Cups (2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022), earning recognition for his consistency and clutch performances in high-pressure games.
