Ukrainian professional racing driver competing in touring car and GT championships, known for his speed and agility on the track.
Ivan Mishyn is a name synonymous with Ukrainian rally racing, and for good reason. As the only Ukrainian codriver to have won the prestigious title of European Rally Champion, Mishyn's achievements are a testament to his unwavering dedication and passion for the sport.
Born on March 31, 1985, in Odesa, Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, Mishyn's entry into the world of rally racing was anything but conventional. Growing up, he would often attend rallies with his childhood friend Vitaliy Pushkar, and it wasn't long before they decided to take the leap and become a professional rally crew themselves.
Their first car, a 2.0-liter all-wheel-drive Subaru Impreza, was previously owned by another Odesa driver, Igor Chapovsky. With Pushkar behind the wheel and Mishyn navigating, they made their debut in the Ukrainian Rally Championship, finishing an impressive 11 out of 11 rallies in their first season, with their only retirement coming due to technical issues at the Bukovina rally.
As Mishyn and Pushkar continued to hone their skills, they began to make a name for themselves in the Ukrainian rally circuit. In 2010, they upgraded to a more modern Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX, allowing them to compete at a higher level and eventually finishing in the top ten fastest Ukrainian crews.
Their hard work and perseverance paid off in 2013, when they won the Chumatskyi Shlyakh rally and finished third in the Mariupol rally, marking their most successful season to date.
The highlight of Mishyn's career came when he and Pushkar won the European Rally Championship in the ERC Production Cup category, becoming the first and only Ukrainian codriver to do so. This incredible achievement solidified Mishyn's position as one of the top codrivers in the sport.
Away from the racetrack, Mishyn is known for his humility and dedication to his craft. As a testament to his character, he has inspired countless young Ukrainians to take up the sport, paving the way for the next generation of rally enthusiasts.
Ivan Mishyn's remarkable journey serves as a reminder that with hard work, determination, and a passion for what you do, even the most seemingly insurmountable goals can be achieved.
Ivan Mishyn's achievements have left an indelible mark on the world of Ukrainian rally racing, inspiring a new wave of enthusiasts and cementing his place as one of the sport's most respected figures.
