He then went on to graduate in History from St. Stephens College, Delhi in 1982, and later pursued law from the Campus Law Centre of the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi in 1984.
Political Career
Gamlin's foray into politics began as a student leader of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU), where he served as the president from 1981-83. He later became a member of the 13th Lok Sabha, representing the Arunachal West Lok Sabha constituency. In 2004, he was elected to the 4th Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Liromoba constituency in West Siang district, and went on to become the Home Minister in the Gegong Apang-led government.
Rise to Power
Gamlin's political career took a significant turn when he played a key role in toppling the Apang ministry and installing Dorjee Khandu as the Chief Minister in April 2007. He was re-elected to the 5th Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 2009 and became the Power Minister in the Dorjee Khandu-led state cabinet. After Khandu's demise in April 2011, Gamlin took over as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh on 5 May 2011.
