Son of Led Zeppelin's drummer John Bonham, he's a talented musician who has carried on his father's legacy, drumming for various bands and even touring with Led Zeppelin's surviving members.
Jason Bonham, the son of legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, has carved out his own legacy as a talented drummer, session musician, and band member of several notable groups. With a career spanning over three decades, Bonham is known for his versatility, skill, and dedication to keeping his father's memory alive through music.
Born on July 15, 1966, Jason Bonham began drumming at the tender age of five and even appeared in Led Zeppelin's film, The Song Remains the Same, alongside his father. At 15, he joined his first band, Airrace, and soon after, he became a part of Virginia Wolf, making two albums and touring the US supporting The Firm.
In 1988, Bonham collaborated with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page on his Outrider album and tour. He also made appearances with the surviving members of Led Zeppelin, including a performance at Atlantic Records' 40th Anniversary concert in New York City. Bonham's session work has included contributions to albums by Paul Rodgers, Joe Bonamassa, and Foreigner, among others.
In 1989, Bonham formed his own band, Bonham, which released two albums, The Disregard of Timekeeping and Mad Hatter. Although the band was eventually dissolved, Bonham went on to join the supergroups Black Country Communion and Sammy Hagar and the Circle.
Bonham is married to Jan Charteris, and they have two children, Jager and Jaz. His dedication to keeping his father's memory alive has led to numerous performances with the surviving members of Led Zeppelin, including the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert at the O2 Arena in London in 2007. Bonham's drumming style and legacy continue to inspire new generations of musicians and fans alike.
Bonham's dedication to his craft and his father's legacy serves as an inspiration to many. His philosophy is simple: to keep the music alive and to honor those who came before him. As a drummer, Bonham continues to push the boundaries of rock music, ensuring that the spirit of Led Zeppelin lives on.
