Born on September 1, 1983, Woywitka's love for hockey began at a young age. He was drafted in the first round, 27th overall, by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft from the Red Deer Rebels.
Woywitka's professional journey started with Philadelphia's AHL affiliate in the 2003-2004 season. Midway through the season, he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers along with Rob Schremp and Danny Syvret in exchange for Mike Comrie. In 2005, he was traded again to the St. Louis Blues as part of a deal that sent Chris Pronger to the Oilers.
In 2009, Woywitka signed a two-year contract with the Dallas Stars, where he spent two seasons. He became an unrestricted free agent in 2011 and signed a one-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens. However, he failed to make the opening night roster and was claimed off waivers by the New York Rangers, where he played 27 games and accumulated 6 points.
Woywitka returned to the St. Louis Blues as an unrestricted free agent in 2012, playing one season before moving to the German Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) to play for Augsburger Panther. He played two seasons with the team before retiring in 2015.
