Jerrold Allen Bonderman, better known as Jeremy Bonderman, is an American former professional baseball pitcher who made history by becoming the first high school junior to be drafted with a first-round pick in baseball history. This unprecedented feat was achieved in 2001, when the Oakland Athletics selected him with the 26th overall pick in the Major League Baseball draft.
Bonderman was born on October 28, 1982, in Kennewick, Washington. He attended Pasco High School in Pasco, Washington, where he excelled in baseball, recording a 5-2 win-loss record and a 3.60 earned run average (ERA) in his junior year. His impressive performance earned him a spot on the first-round draft pick, a rare achievement for a high school junior.
Bonderman's professional career began with the Oakland Athletics, but he was soon traded to the Detroit Tigers in 2002 as part of a three-team deal. He made his major league debut with the Tigers in 2003, at just 20 years old, against the Minnesota Twins. Although his rookie campaign was marked by a 6-18 record, he showed promise and went on to play for the Tigers from 2003 to 2009.
After leaving the Tigers, Bonderman played for the Seattle Mariners in 2010 and later in 2013. He announced his retirement from professional baseball in 2014. Bonderman's post-baseball life has been marked by his involvement in various business ventures and philanthropic activities in his hometown of Pasco, Washington.
