Author of conspiracy theory books, including "Unfit for Command" and "Where's the Birth Certificate?", which challenged the legitimacy of Obama's presidency. Known for promoting fringe ideas and misinformation.
Jerome Corsi is a well-known American conspiracy theorist and author, notorious for his provocative writings that have sparked intense debate and criticism. He is best recognized for his New York Times bestselling books, Unfit for Command (2004) and The Obama Nation (2008), which vehemently attacked Democratic presidential candidates and have been widely debunked by experts and critics alike.
Corsi was born on August 31, 1946, in East Cleveland, Ohio, to Alice Hanlon Corsi and Louis E. Corsi, a Democratic Party activist and a leader of the United Transportation Union. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School in 1964 and later earned a degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1968. Corsi went on to receive his Ph.D. in political science from Harvard University in 1972.
Corsi has been at the forefront of promoting various conspiracy theories, including the alleged plans for a North American Union government, birther claims that President Barack Obama is not a United States citizen, criticism of the United States government for allegedly covering up information about the September 11 attacks, and alleged United States support of Iran in its attempts to develop nuclear weapons. His controversial writings have been widely criticized by experts, journalists, and fact-checking organizations.
In 2017, Corsi became the Washington, D.C. bureau chief for the conspiracy theory website InfoWars, a position he no longer holds. In 2018, he was subpoenaed by the Mueller special counsel investigation over his contacts with former Donald Trump adviser Roger Stone and foreknowledge of WikiLeaks releases of stolen Clinton emails. Corsi claimed that he turned down a plea deal with Robert Mueller and denied any such contacts or knowledge. However, draft court documents released in November 2019 showed that he had emailed Stone several times, updating him about impending WikiLeaks releases of stolen emails.
Corsi's work has been widely criticized for promoting conspiracy theories and misinformation. His writings have been debunked by fact-checking organizations and experts, leading many to question his credibility and motives. Despite this, he remains a prominent figure in the world of conspiracy theories and has a dedicated following among some right-wing groups.
"I'm not a conspiracy theorist, I'm a conspiracy analyst. There's a big difference."
"The truth is, I'm not worried about the Mueller investigation. I'm worried about the truth getting out."
