In the summer of 2001, Vanstrattan was signed by Juventus on a five-year deal and was loaned to Verona in a co-ownership deal worth 500 million lire. During his two-year stint with Verona, Vanstrattan was a regular on the bench for the Serie A side and played 54 games for the reserve team in the Campionato Nazionale Primavera.
His third season in Italy saw him suffer a serious knee injury, rupturing his right knee ACL, which ruled him out for the remainder of the season. However, he bounced back to sign a four-year contract extension with Verona in January 2004.
