Born on March 15, 1977, in Dallas, Texas, Hahn grew up as a second-generation Korean American in a predominantly Mexican neighborhood in Glendale, California. He developed an early interest in music, playing the violin and guitar as a child. Hahn graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in Glendale and later attended the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, where he studied illustration.
Hahn's foray into deejaying began in high school, and he continued to hone his skills while studying at the Art Center College of Design. It was during this time that he met Mike Shinoda, and together they formed the band Xero, releasing their self-titled demo album in 1997. The band later evolved into Hybrid Theory, and eventually, Linkin Park was born.
Hahn's creative genius extends beyond his musicianship. He has directed many of Linkin Park's music videos, including "Numb," "From the Inside," "What I've Done," "Somewhere I Belong," "Pts.OF.Athrty," "New Divide," "Bleed It Out," and "Iridescent." His visual artistry is also evident in the band's album artwork, which he designs in collaboration with Mike Shinoda.
Hahn has collaborated with other artists, including the X-Ecutioners, with whom he featured on the hit single "It's Goin' Down." He also made a guest appearance on Mike Shinoda's side project, Fort Minor's debut album, "The Rising Tied," on the track "Slip Out the Back."
