A British sprinter who won numerous Olympic and World Championship medals, setting multiple records in the 4x100m relay.
Regis's most significant successes came in individual events, particularly in the 200 meters, where he became the first British athlete to run under 20 seconds. He held the UK record for the event until 2023, when Zharnel Hughes broke the 30-year record with a blistering 19.73 seconds. Regis's achievements extend to the relay events, where he was part of the British teams that won major international medals in both the 4 x 100 meters relay and the 4 x 400 meters relay.
In addition to his individual achievements, Regis was part of several record-breaking performances in relay events. In 1990, he helped set a European Championship record in the 4 x 400 meters relay. On March 3, 1991, he was a member of the British team that set the world indoor record for the 4 x 200 meters relay with a time of 1:22.11, which still stands today.
Regis's contributions to British athletics extend beyond his impressive medal tally and records. His achievements have also helped to elevate the profile of British sprinting, paving the way for future generations of athletes.
After retiring from athletics, Regis ventured into bobsleigh training with the British team in 2000, alongside fellow sprinter Marcus Adam. Although he did not compete in the Winter Olympics, Adam went on to represent Britain at the 2002 Winter Olympics.
