Thangavelu was born on January 15, 1917, in Karaikal, and later shifted to Tirumalairayanpattinam at a young age. After returning to films in 1951, Thangavelu's career took off with comical roles in Manamagal and Singari. He went on to act in over 100 films, working with prominent directors and actors of the time. Some of his notable works include Kalyanam Panniyum Brahmachari (1954), Petra Maganai Vitra Annai (1958), and Paava Mannippu (1961). His unique brand of humor and impeccable timing earned him a special place in the hearts of Tamil audiences.
