As a former professional first baseman and outfielder, Millar played in Major League Baseball for 12 seasons, donning the uniforms of the Florida Marlins, Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, and Toronto Blue Jays.
Born on September 24, 1971, in Los Angeles, California, Millar grew up with a passion for baseball. He attended University High School in West Los Angeles, where he helped his team win the 3A City title in 1988. After graduating from Hart High School in Santa Clarita, California, Millar went on to play college baseball for Los Angeles City College and later, Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.
Under the guidance of Coach Jim Gilligan, Millar excelled at Lamar University, leading the Cardinals to a remarkable turnaround in the 1992 season. With a 32-21 record, the team achieved the NCAA's biggest victory improvement over the previous season. Millar's impressive stats, including 41 runs, 56 hits, 13 home runs, and 50 RBIs, earned him All-Sun Belt Conference honors.
In 1993, Millar began his professional career with the Saint Paul Saints of the Northern League. He batted .260 with five home runs and 30 RBIs, setting the stage for his eventual call-up to the MLB.
Millar made his MLB debut in 1998 with the Florida Marlins, going on to play for the Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, and Toronto Blue Jays. Throughout his 12-year career, he played in 1,405 games, accumulating 1,273 hits, 164 home runs, and 594 RBIs.
After retiring from baseball in 2009, Millar transitioned to a successful career as a baseball analyst. He currently co-hosts the popular MLB Network show "Intentional Talk" alongside Siera Santos and Ryan Dempster, providing insightful commentary and humor to the program.
