Ki Sung-yueng is a household name in the world of football, renowned for his exceptional skills as a central midfielder or defensive midfielder for FC Seoul in the K League 1. With an impressive 110 caps for South Korea, Ki has led his national team as captain in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, making him a legendary figure in his country.
Ki started his football journey at Suncheon Jungang Elementary School Football Club, before moving to Brisbane, Australia, to study at John Paul College under the BSP Brain Soccer Program. This unique opportunity allowed Ki to combine his athletic and academic pursuits, while also learning English.
In 2005, Ki received offers from South Korean club FC Seoul and A-League club Queensland Roar, but decided to move back to South Korea to continue his education and career. After graduating from Kumho High School in 2006, Ki joined FC Seoul, where he played alongside national teammate Lee Chung-yong.
Ki made his senior debut in the K League on March 4, 2007, in a match against Daegu FC. Under coach Enol Gne, Ki's exceptional skills soon earned him recognition, and he became an integral part of the team.
In 2012, Ki transferred to Swansea City, where he won the EFL Cup in 2013 and was voted the club's Player of the Year in 2015. Ki's impressive performance led to his transfer to Celtic, where he won the Scottish Premier League and the Scottish Cup.
