Liljay, also known as Xiao Jie or Liao Xiao Jie, is a Taiwanese Mandopop singer, songwriter, and dancer who rose to fame as a member of the boybands Lollipop and JPM. With his charismatic stage presence and soulful voice, Liljay has become a household name in the Taiwanese entertainment industry, captivating audiences with his energetic performances and heartfelt ballads.
Liljay was born on February 14, 1989, in Taipei, Taiwan, to a family of four. He has a younger sister and brother, and his younger brother was also a contestant on Bang Bang Tang II, a reality TV show that aimed to create new male artists in Taiwan's entertainment industry. Liljay's early education took place at Taipei Municipal Hulu Elementary School, Taipei Municipal Chongqing Junior School, and Taipei Municipal Song Shan High School of Commerce. He later attended Takming University of Science and Technology, where he met his future bandmate, Zhuang Ao Quan.
In 2006, Liljay and Zhuang Ao Quan auditioned for Bang Bang Tang BBT, a reality TV show that sought to create new male artists in Taiwan's entertainment industry. Both were selected into the show and eventually formed Lollipop, a six-member boyband that signed under Gold Typhoon (formerly EMI Capitol) and Channel V Taiwan in 2006. The group's debut album, "Cyborg", was released in 2006, followed by "Lollipop" in 2007, cementing their status as one of Taiwan's most popular boybands.
In 2011, Liljay formed JPM, a trio boyband with Qiu Wang Zi and Qiu Mao Di. The group's debut single, "Moonwalker", was released in 2011, followed by their debut album, "JPM", in 2012. Liljay has also pursued a solo career, releasing his debut solo single, "Love Me", in 2013.
Liljay is known for his philanthropic efforts, particularly in the area of education. He has been involved in various charity events and has spoken out on the importance of education and empowering young people to pursue their dreams.
