Born on January 17, 1973, in Windsor, New South Wales, Ellis grew up with a passion for sports. She attended Holy Family High School and later completed her secondary education at John Paul II Senior High School (now known as St Andrews College). Ellis's talent and dedication earned her a netball scholarship at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in 1991-1992.
While pursuing her netball career, Ellis also completed a law degree at Macquarie University, showcasing her exceptional time management and academic prowess.
