Born on December 18, 1965, in Lugo, Galicia, Pea signed with Real Valladolid at the tender age of 17. He went on to play seven consecutive La Liga seasons with the club, eventually becoming a stalwart of the team.
Despite a slow start, Pea's best output came in the 1987-1988 campaign, where he scored an impressive eight goals in 29 matches, all starts. This exceptional form helped Real Valladolid finish in eighth position, with notable victories against FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou, including a hat-trick in a 4-2 win, and another in the home game against the Catalans, ending in a 1-1 draw.
After leaving Real Valladolid, Pea played for Real Zaragoza and Cdiz CF, experiencing relegation to Segunda División in 1993-1994. He eventually retired in June 2000, after six years in the lower leagues, primarily with SD Ponferradina, where he started his career.
Pea's impressive skills on the pitch earned him a total of 14 caps for four Spanish youth teams. His most notable achievement was helping the under-20s finish second at the 1985 FIFA World Youth Championship in the Soviet Union. During the tournament, he appeared in the group stage against Brazil (0-2 loss) and the Republic of Ireland (4-2 win).
After hanging up his boots, Pea settled in Ponferrada and worked in the city council. Tragically, he passed away on November 13, 2012, at the age of 46, after a brave battle with cancer.
