Born on June 18, 1981, in Basel, Switzerland, Streller began his youth football career with local club FC Aesch in 1988. He played for FC Arlesheim in the 2. Liga for three seasons before joining FC Basel in 2000.
Streller made his professional debut with FC Basel under manager Christian Gross in 2001, scoring an own goal in his first game. He was then loaned to feeder club FC Concordia Basel, where he scored 16 goals in 30 starts, and later to FC Thun, where he scored eight goals in 16 games.
Streller's impressive performances earned him a recall to FC Basel, where he scored 13 goals in 16 games during the 2003-2004 Swiss Super League season. This caught the attention of Bundesliga clubs, including VfB Stuttgart, which signed him ahead of the 2004-2005 season.
He made his debut for VfB Stuttgart on March 14, 2005, scoring his first goal for the club. Despite struggling with injuries, Streller went on to play for several clubs, including 1. FC Köln, before retiring in 2015.
