Lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the glam metal band Slaughter, known for hits like "Fly to the Angels" and "Up All Night".
Mark Allen Slaughter, born on July 4, 1964, is the iconic American singer and musician behind the legendary glam metal band Slaughter. With a career spanning over three decades, Slaughter has etched his name in the music industry as one of the most recognisable voices of the glam metal era.
Before founding Slaughter, Mark Slaughter fronted Xcursion, a Las Vegas-based metal band that released two albums and appeared on three compilation albums from 1981-1986. He then joined Sin with early W.A.S.P. bassist Rik Fox and later Rox Parade, before replacing Robert Fleischman in Vinnie Vincent Invasion. It was during this time that he gained popularity with the hit song "Love Kills," which appeared on the soundtrack to the 1988 film A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master.
After Vinnie Vincent Invasion disbanded in the late 1980s, Slaughter and Dana Strum formed the group Slaughter, which went on to sell over five million records in the 1990s. The band had four Top 30 hits on the Billboard charts with songs like "Fly to the Angels" and "Up All Night," and toured with iconic bands such as Kiss, Poison, Ozzy Osbourne, and Damn Yankees.
In January 2015, Slaughter digitally released his solo album Reflections in a Rear View Mirror, which was later released in CD format in May of the same year. In May 2017, he released his second solo record, Halfway There, via EMP Label Group.
Aside from his music, Slaughter is actively involved in charity work, particularly with St. Jude Children's Hospital. His philanthropic efforts have made a significant impact on the lives of many, and his dedication to giving back to the community is truly admirable.
Mark Slaughter's life is a testament to his unwavering passion for music and his commitment to using his platform for good. As a glam metal icon, he has inspired countless musicians and fans alike, and his legacy continues to shape the music industry today.
Mark Slaughter's remarkable journey is a reminder that with hard work, dedication, and a passion for one's craft, anything is possible. As we look back on his illustrious career, we are reminded of the power of music to inspire, to uplift, and to bring people together.
