In 1935, they immigrated to Palestine, where Elon would go on to study Halakha at the Hebron Yeshiva and earn his ordination as a rabbi from chief rabbis Ben-Zion Meir Hai Uziel and Yitzhak HaLevi Herzog.
In 1949, Elon earned his diploma from the Tel Aviv School of Law and Economics. He went on to co-found Midrashiat Noam, a yeshiva high school in Pardes Hanna, and later became one of the founders of the religious Kibbutz Tirat Zvi in the Beit Shean Valley.
