Zorc quickly established himself as a central midfielder and became a first-choice player from his second season onwards. His excellent penalty-taking ability was one of his greatest strengths, and he scored in double digits in seven seasons, including 15 goals apiece from 1994 to 1996.
Zorc earned seven caps for Germany, but unfortunately, never made the squad for any international tournament. His debut came on December 16, 1992, at the age of 30, during a 1-3 friendly defeat to Brazil.
Zorc's father, Dieter, played in the top division for VfL Bochum and was an amateur international for Germany. This familial connection to football undoubtedly played a significant role in shaping Zorc's passion for the sport.
After retiring from professional football, Zorc went on to serve as Borussia Dortmund's sporting director, a role he held from 1998 to 2022. During his tenure, the club won several prestigious titles, including the Bundesliga, DFL-Supercup, and UEFA Champions League.
