In 2000, Wilson joined Glasgow band Terra Diablo as a guitarist, where he honed his skills and developed a camaraderie with the members of Snow Patrol, with whom Terra Diablo frequently toured. During these tours, Wilson would often join Snow Patrol on stage, contributing guitar and keyboards, and eventually, his talent caught the attention of Snow Patrol's lead vocalist, Gary Lightbody.
