Per Jrgensen is a Norwegian multi-instrumentalist renowned for his impressive trumpet playing skills, as well as his exceptional vocal contributions to the world of jazz. With a career spanning over four decades, Jrgensen has left an indelible mark on the Norwegian jazz scene, collaborating with some of the most talented musicians in the industry.
In the 1970s, Jrgensen was a major voice in the Bergen Jazz Community, delivering remarkable performances with bands such as Danmarksplass Rock og Jazz, trumpet and voice with the talented young saxophone player Olav Dale, and the profound Bergen guitarist Ole Thomsen. His involvement with the Bergen Big Band, Bergen Blues Band, and Knut Kristiansen Kvintett cemented his status as a central figure in the Norwegian jazz circuit.
Jrgensen's contributions to jazz in Hordaland earned him the prestigious Vossajazzprisen in 1991, and in the same year, he was elected the FNJ (Norwegian Jazz Musicians Federation) Jazz Musician of the Year. He further received the Buddyprisen in 1995 and the Radka Toneff Memorial Award in 2001, recognizing his outstanding achievements in the world of jazz.
Jrgensen has had the privilege of collaborating with numerous international performers, including guitarist Tobias Sjgren with Unspoken Songs and The Thule Spirit, and percussionist Marilyn Mazur with Circular Chant. He has also worked on various projects, such as Trio J.I.G. in Bergen, alongside Terje Isungset and Ole Amund Gjersvik, and a trio collaboration with Eldbjrg Raknes and Christian Wallumrd.
