In 1959, he drove a Formula Two F2 Cooper-Climax entered by Alan Brown at the British Grand Prix at Aintree, finishing in 12th position, third among the F2 cars, and six laps down.

After his Formula One stint, Ashdown shifted his focus to Formula Junior, where he achieved significant success. He drove a Formula Junior Lola and went on to win his class in the 1960 and 1962 1000km of Nürburgring. His 1962 victory at the Nordschleife, driving a Lotus 23 with a 997cc Cosworth Mk.III as a semi-works entry for Ian Walker Racing, marked the debut win for Lotus 23 in the 1L Sportscar class.

Post-Racing Career

In 1962, Ashdown decided to retire from active racing and channel his energy into his Vauxhall dealership in Essex. This new venture allowed him to stay connected to the automotive industry while also providing a sense of stability and normalcy after an exciting but unpredictable racing career.
